2015 PDE Migrant Education Program and English as a Second Language Conference
Education without Borders
November 16-18, 2015; Harrisburg, Pa.
This conference is specially designed to educate and assist those who work for and on behalf of migrant students in Pennsylvania and will provide the necessary tools to continue to provide every student in Pennsylvania with a world-class education. This year’s event will showcase teacher collaboration strategies and models, culturally responsive instruction, family engagement strategies and opportunities to build capacity, as well as networking opportunities with migrant education personnel to meet the needs of ESL students.
The 2015 conference is designed for:
- Migrant Education Program staff
- ESL and content-area instructors working in school districts, charter schools, career and technical centers, intermediate units, private schools and non-public schools
- Community organization and agency staff working with English language learners and their families
- Parents and other ESL stakeholders
The first 250 registrants will receive a complimentary copy of the inspiring true story Spare Parts: Four Undocumented Teenagers, One Ugly Robot, and the Battle for the American Dream, the book which served as the basis for the award winning documentary, Underwater Dreams.
This conference is presented by the Pennsylvania Department of Education Migrant Education Program and English as a Second Language Program and organized in partnership with the Center for Schools and Communities.
