A partnership between the Migrant Education and English as a Second Language Programs
This exciting event will enable participants to learn promising practices to support Pennsylvania’s English learners in the attainment of college and career readiness. This year’s conference will showcase administrator engagement, effective content area strategies for diverse learners, culturally responsive instruction, family engagement strategies, and opportunities for networking with migrant education personnel to meet the needs of English learners.
This conference is designed for content-area instructors and ESL teachers working in school districts, charter schools, career and technical centers, intermediate units, private schools, and non-public schools; LEA administrators; community organization and agency staff working with English learners and their families; parents and other ESL stakeholders; and migrant education program staff.
The first 250 conference registrants will receive a complimentary copy of Toys Made of Rock.
Dr. Jose B. Gonzalez, author of Toys Made of Rock and International Latino Book Award Finalist, was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, and immigrated to New London, CT, at the age of eight. His awards include AAHHE Latino Faculty of the Year, CT NAME Multicultural Faculty of the Year, and NEATE Poet of the Year. Gonzalez is a professor of English at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT.
This conference is presented by the Pennsylvania Department of Education Migrant Education Program and English as a Second Language Program and organized in partnership with the Center for Schools and Communities.
